Fred P. Lossing Award (for Distinguished contributions to mass spectrometry in Canada).


The CSMS makes an annual award to a distinguished Canadian mass spectrometrist at the Tandem Mass Spectrometry Workshop in Lake Louise. The travel portion of the award ($1500 CA) is sponsored by Agilent Technologies Canada Inc. and includes a lasting memory of the event. Past recipients have received framed prints of Lake Louise by the local Canmore artist, Marilyn Kinsella.

The nomination deadline for the 2012 F.P. Lossing award is May 2nd, 2012. (NOTE NEW DEADLINE DATE!) 


Nominations should consist of a cover letter outlining the nature of the candidate's contributions, the candidate's CV and letters of support from Canadian and international scientists.
 


**NEW**  Nominations will be held and considered for 3 years.  Nominators are responsible for keeping the file up to date.

Student Travel Awards: 


To the Lake Louise Tandem Mass Spectrometry Workshop


Three travel grants provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waters Corporation and AB SCIEX of $2000 (CA) to allow a senior Graduate Student/postdoctoral fellow in a Canadian University to travel to and present an oral presentation at the Lake Louise Tandem Mass Spectrometry Workshop. Unsuccessful applications (with the exception of postdoctoral fellow applications) will automatically be considered for the Lake Louise Student Travel Awards (below) which are open to all.


Applications for 2012 should be made by a graduate student or post-doc by a letter or email to Michael Siu by September 09, 2012 describing in an included abstract (500 words) the nature of the MS/MS work, or MS/MS work-in-progress to be presented at the workshop (preference will be given to work that has not been previously presented). A supporting letter from the respective research director/supervisor must also be sent. This is a great opportunity for a young scientist to meet world-class mass spectrometrists in an intimate and friendly setting. Selection of the winning application will be made by the CSMS executive committee by October 1, 2012. Consideration will be given only to those who have not won a CSMS travel award previously.

The Executive are please to announce the competition fora travel award sponsored by Canadian Life Science. The Student travel award (C$2000) will assist a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow studying in Canada with travel to ASMS meetings. Required for application is an abstract of a poster or oral presentation accepted by ASMS. Once confirmation of acceptance by ASMS is received, applicants are to email the abstract, along with a copy of the notice of acceptance and a supporting letter from their supervisor to Michael Siu. The application deadline for the 2012 ASMS meeting is April 25/2012.
